Module 03: UMTS Air Interface
If understanding GSM frame timing and Time slot was crucial for mastering 2G air-interface, understanding the principles of WCDMA is essential for mastering 3G technology.
Here in module 3, we will discuss general concept of Bandwidth spreading and de-spreading.
Next module will add UMTS specific details, therefore please try to understand module 3, very slowly and carefully,
Module 04: Logical, Transport and Physical Channels
Logical Channels represent "what" is being transmitted. Transport Channel describe "how" & "which which Characteristics" the information is sent. and Physical Channel represent the physical resource in which this information is transmitted.
Module 05: Radio Resource Management
RM is the brain of any radio network. in 2G it was purely located in BSC because 2G BTS does not have any decision making power. All decisions are taken by BSC and dictated to MS and BTS. IN 3G UMTS, all decisions are taken by RNC but few selected tasks are decided by eNode-B. (For example, Power Control).
